American Heart Month
American Heart Month & National Wear Red Day®
With a healthy heart, you can do more of what you love — but it’s not always easy to break old habits or make healthy changes. The “Heart-Healthy Steps” campaign encourages adults to get on track with small steps—like scheduling their medical appointments, getting active, and eating healthy—so that they can improve their heart health.
National Wear Red Day® is the first Friday in February. Wear red on Friday, February 2nd and encourage others to do the same!
What are Heart Healthy Steps?
Learn more this month about how to take steps for better heart health. Start small, live big!
- Manage your risk factors. Keep your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar in a healthy range to help prevent heart disease and stroke.
- Work with healthcare professionals. Build a healthcare team you can trust to help take care of your heart.
- Eat healthy. Create healthy eating habits that work for you. Even small changes to your diet can make a big difference to your heart health.
- Get active. Take small steps toward being more active to get big health benefits over time.
- Lower stress. Find healthy ways to manage stress to lower your risk of health problems and help you feel your best.
- Quit smoking. Quitting smoking isn’t easy — but it’s worth the effort. It’s never too late to quit and enjoy the health benefits of a smoke-free life.
